Regular Season Round 11: Handlova - Nitra 65-85

The game in Handlova supposed to be also worth to mention about. Fourth ranked Nitra (7-3) played at the court of 7th ranked Handlova (4-6). Nitra did not have too big problems and got a relatively easy victory 85-65. It looked good early as Handlova took an 3-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Nitra had a 32-10 second period charge getting the lead and Handlova was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 65-85. Nitra dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Handlova's 30. They outrebounded Handlova 52-25 including a 18-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was an exceptional evening for Australian forward Ater Majok (208-87, college: Connecticut) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 21 points, 17 rebounds and 4 blocks. Puerto Rican point guard Denis Clemente (185-86, college: Kansas St., agency: KMG Sports Management) accounted for 18 points for the winning side. Nitra's coach Lubomir Urban allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American swingman Anthony Jones (194-84, college: Indiana Tech) came up with a double-double by scoring 32 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists and the other American import forward Sean Hampton (195-75, college: Alders.-Broad.) added 16 points respectively for Handlova in the defeat. Nitra have a solid series of four victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Prievidza and Nova Ves. Handlova lost third consecutive game. They keep the seventh place with six games lost. Nitra will play against Levice (#6) at home in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Handlova will play against Vahostav-Zilina and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
