Regular Season Round 5: Batumi - Sokhumi 64-88

Bottom-ranked Batumi is still unable to win any game. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their fifth consecutive match to third ranked Sokhumi (4-1) 88-64. The game without a history. Sokhumi led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Batumi's 30. They outrebounded Batumi 50-36 including a 37-23 advantage in defensive rebounds. Sokhumi players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. The best player for the winners was international guard Levan Patsatsia (198-88, college: Troy) who had a double-double by scoring 40 points (!!!), 16 rebounds and 5 assists. International guard Lasha Parghalava (191-87, college: Montana St. - Billin) chipped in 13 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Forward Avtandil Eliashvili (200-89) produced 15 points and 9 rebounds and center Mamuka Bolkvadze (205-83) added 16 points and 7 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Sokhumi moved-up to second place, which they share with Kutaisi. Batumi at the other side still closes the standings with five games lost. Sokhumi's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Tbilisi to the arena TSU.
