Twelfth ranked CB Granada won an overtime thriller edging second-best Canarias by one point 89-90 on Friday night. It ended at the same time the seven-game winning streak of Canarias. The hosts trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 6-point lead at the halftime then Canarias managed to tie the game at the end of regular time. However that was CB Granada who were better in overtime eventually winning that period 14-13. It was a good game for the former international center Jesus Fernandez (204-75) who saved his team from a defeat with 15 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists. The former international forward Francisco Sanchez (201-79) contributed with 16 points for the winners. American power forward Jakim Donaldson (204-83, college: Edinboro) answered with a double-double by scoring 29 points and 17 rebounds and the former international power forward Ricardo Guillen (205-76) added 18 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Canarias. Five CB Granada and four Canarias players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. CB Granada (4-5) moved-up to ninth place, which they share with 4 other teams. Loser Canarias still keeps top position with two games lost. CB Granada will face higher ranked UB La Palma (#4) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Canarias will play against the league's leader Ford Burgos where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
