Rather expected game when bottom-ranked RMC (0-1) was smashed by leader Gryphons (2-0) in Kingston, ON 110-58 on Friday. Gryphons dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to RMC's 22 and made 25-of-32 free shots (78.1 percent) during the game. They outrebounded RMC 38-20 including a 12-1 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Gryphons especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 68.8 percentage. It was a good game for guard Kareem Malcolm (183) who led his team to a victory with 22 points. Guard Zachary Angus (186) contributed with 14 points and 8 assists for the winners. Guard Connor Duke (191) answered with 18 points and 5 rebounds and guard Idris Said-Madjid (198) added 18 points in the effort for RMC. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Gryphons keep a position of league leader, which they share with 7 other teams. Loser RMC still closes the standings with one game lost. Gryphons will face Golden Gaels (#6) in Kingston, ON in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. RMC will play at home against Thunderwolves in Thunder Bay, ON and looks forward to get finally their first victory.
