Date: November 11, 2011
Everything could happen in Belconnen at the game between two tied teams. Both eighth ranked West Coast Waves and bottom-ranked AIS had identical 0-7 record. But AIS was not able to use a home court advantage and was outscored by the opponent from Perth 77-55 on Friday night. The guests trailed by 4 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 11-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 77-55. West Coast Waves forced 25 AIS turnovers and outrebounded them 44-28 including 19 on the offensive glass. Power forward Samantha Norwood (188-89, college: Stony Brook) had a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and the former international forward Rohanee Cox (182-80) chipped in 17 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. Four West Coast Waves players scored in double figures. West Coast Waves' coach David Herbert felt very confident using 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games.
