The game in Zilina was also quite interesting. Seventh ranked Handlova (5-6) played at the court of 8th ranked Vahostav-Zilina (2-8). Handlova managed to secure a 8-point victory 99-91 on Saturday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Vahostav-Zilina won third quarter 26-20. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Handlova won last quarter 29-23. They made 29-of-35 free shots (82.9 percent) during the game. Worth to mention a great performance of American swingman Anthony Jones (194-84, college: Indiana Tech) who helped to win the game recording 38 points (!!!), 7 assists and 4 steals and the other American import forward Sean Hampton (195-75, college: Alders.-Broad.) who added 24 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was American guard Perry Petty (185, college: UTPA) with a double-double by scoring 25 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists and the former international center Ondrej Soska (208-78) produced a double-double by scoring 24 points and 11 rebounds. Five Handlova and four Vahostav-Zilina players scored in double figures. Handlova moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Levice. Vahostav-Zilina lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the eighth position with eight games lost. Handlova will meet Levice (#7) on the road in the next round. Vahostav-Zilina will play against SKP Banska Bystrica and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
