Regular Season Round 4: Queen's - Guelph 56-73

There was no surprise when bottom-ranked Golden Gaels (0-2) lost to top-ranked Gryphons (2-0) in Kingston, ON 56-73 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Gryphons. Golden Gaels was better in third quarter 15-11. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 19-of-22 free shots (86.4 percent) during the game. Gryphons forced 20 Golden Gaels turnovers. It was a very good performance for guard Daniel McCarthy (188) who helped to win the game recording 24 points (made all of his seven free throws). Guard Kareem Malcolm (183) contributed with 9 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Forward Nikola Misljencevic (196) replied with 10 points and John Lenz added 6 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Golden Gaels. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Gryphons keep a position of league leader, which they share with 8 other teams. Loser Golden Gaels still closes the standings with two games lost. Gryphons will face Rams (#7) in Toronto, ON in the next round where they are favorite. Golden Gaels will play on the road against Golden Hawks in Waterloo, ON and hope to get finally their first victory.
