Regular Season Round 8: AZS Kutno - Polonia 75-62

We should mention about the upset which took place in Kutno, where 10th ranked Polonia (3-5) lost to thirteenth ranked AZS Kutno (2-5) in a road game 62-75. The game was mostly controlled by AZS Kutno. Polonia was better in second period 21-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. AZS Kutno dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Polonia's 40. AZS Kutno forced 19 Polonia turnovers and outrebounded them 27-15. They brought some defensive toughness making 9 blocks. The winners were led by the former international swingman Mariusz Bacik (207-72) who scored that evening 17 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and guard Dawid Brek (185-89, agency: Promotex) supported him with 10 points and 8 assists. Four AZS Kutno players scored in double figures. AZS Kutno's coach Jaroslaw Krysiewicz allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Even 19 points and 7 steals by guard Hubert Mazur (190-84, agency: Promotex) did not help to save the game for Polonia. Forward Artur Mikolajko (197-79) added 13 points (perfect from the field making all six shots) for the guests. AZS Kutno moved-up to twelfth place. Polonia at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the tenth position with five games lost. AZS Kutno's next round opponent will be MOSiR Krosno (#14) on the road.
