The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Armia as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Armia edged 7th ranked TSU in Tbilisi 73-71. The hosts trailed by 4 points after three quarters before their 8-2 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Armia dominated on the defensive end, holding TSU to just 2 points in fourth quarter. Strangely TSU outrebounded Armia 45-32 including 34 on the defensive glass. 28 personal fouls committed by TSU helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American swingman Jeremy Richardson (200-84, college: Delta St.) orchestrated the victory by scoring 25 points and 5 rebounds (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line). His fellow American import point guard Sundiata Gaines (185-86, college: Georgia, agency: Strategic Sports) contributed with 13 points and 5 assists for the winners. Armia's coach Kote Tugushi used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Forward Soso Shermadini (208-85) answered with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 17 rebounds and center Tornike Niniashvili (205-82) added 20 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for TSU. Armia have a solid series of four victories in a row. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. TSU at the other side dropped to the sixth place with two games lost. They share the position with Olympus. TSU will play next round against strong Sokhumi trying to get back on the winning streak. It will be a derby game for which supporters look forward to, where their team will face at home their local rival from Tbilisi - Sokhumi. Armia will try to continue on its current victory against fifth ranked Samedicino-Academia. It will be extra interesting game as Samedicino-Academia is their local rival from Tbilisi.
