There was no surprise when 3rd placed Shiga L-Stars (6-3) were outplayed on the road by first ranked Osaka Evessa (8-1) 91-71 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Osaka Evessa. Shiga L-Stars was better in fourth quarter 25-22. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Osaka Evessa dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Shiga L-Stars' 38. Osaka Evessa had a 28-16 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Shiga L-Stars were plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Americans were the main players on the court. It was a great evening for forward Lawrence Blackledge (206-86, college: Marquette) who led his team to a victory scoring 13 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 blocks. Forward Lynn Washington (200-78, college: Indiana) helped adding 16 points. Blackledge is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top summer league for players who want to play basketball overseas. Osaka Evessa's coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Forward Ray Nixon (203-84, college: Wisconsin) responded with 19 points and 7 rebounds and forward Josh Peppers (201-85, college: Cent.Florida, agency: Court Side) scored 14 points and 7 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Osaka Evessa have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They maintain first place with 8-1 record. Loser Shiga L-Stars dropped to the second position with three games lost. Osaka Evessa will face again Shiga L-Stars (#4) at home in the next round.
