There was an upset when higher ranked Bolzano (3-4) was defeated at home by thirteenth ranked Marghera (2-5) 72-57 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Marghera. Bolzano was better in second period 13-10. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Bolzano 37-26 including 22 on the defensive glass. Bulgarian forward Anna Rimpova (183-82) fired a double-double by scoring 23 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Swingman Marta Granzotto (176-92) chipped in 18 points and 7 steals. Polish-French center Karolina Piotrkiewicz (190-84, college: Liberty, agency: LBM Management) produced 7 points and 8 rebounds and guard Elena Zambarda (180-87) added 14 points respectively for lost side. Bolzano's coach Michele Massai rotated ten players and allowed the starting five to rest. Marghera moved-up to eleventh place in North, which they share with Cagliari V. Loser Bolzano dropped to the fifth position with four games lost. Marghera will face higher ranked Udine (#5) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Bolzano will play against Borgotaro.
