Regular Season Round 7: Asteras - GAC Eunikos 66-63 OT

DAS Ano Liosa (#7) forced the game against Asteras (#4) into an overtime, but lost by three points 63-66 on Saturday night. DAS Ano Liosa was trailing by 2 points at halftime but managed to get 3-point lead after three quarters before a 15-12 charge of Asteras, which allowed them to tie the game at the end of regular time. They were better in overtime eventually winning that period 8-5. Asteras forced 21 DAS Ano Liosa turnovers and outrebounded them 46-29 including a 33-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great evening for Slovenian guard Katarina Ristic (174-84) who led her team to a victory scoring 25 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Latvian center Zenta Melnika (197-91) helped adding 9 points and 9 rebounds. At the losing side American forward Collen Planeta (188-88, college: Point Loma) responded with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 12 rebounds and the other American import point guard Daphanie Kennedy (175-86, college: Pepperdine) scored 15 points. DAS Ano Liosa's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Asteras (5-2) moved-up to third place, which they share with Panathinaikos. DAS Ano Liosa at the other side dropped to the fifth position with four games lost. Asteras' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Athens to the arena Athinaikos.
