The game between closely ranked teams ended with 3rd placed Panathinaikos' (5-2) home loss to leader Esperides (7-0) 51-64 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Esperides. Panathinaikos was better in third quarter 14-11. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 17-of-22 free shots (77.3 percent) during the game. It was a great evening for American center Latoya Williams (193-87, college: Chipola JC) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 25 rebounds. The former international guard Theoni Tzegianaki (162-85) helped adding 15 points. At the losing side the former international power forward Afroditi Kosma (187-83) responded with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 18 rebounds and American power forward Diana Delva (188, college: Hartford) scored 16 points and 8 rebounds. Panathinaikos' coach Giasemi Siamandoura tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Esperides have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Athinaikos. Loser Panathinaikos keeps the third place with two games lost. Esperides will face Apollon Ptol. (#10) in Ptolemaida in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Panathinaikos will play on the road against DAS Ano Liosa (#7).
