Regular Season Round 6: Adelaide - Dandenong R. 78-76

Rather predictable result when third ranked Adelaide Lightning (6-2) edged at home 5th ranked Dandenong Rangers (4-4) 78-76 on Saturday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Dandenong Rangers won third quarter 23-22. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Dandenong Rangers 42-30 including a 19-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. Adelaide Lightning looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The former international center Suzy Batkovic-Brown (193-80) had a double-double by scoring 38 points (!!!), 10 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the charge for the winners and international center Abby Bishop (189-88) chipped in 8 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists during the contest. The best for the losing side was the former international swingman Jenna O'Hea (185-87) with 17 points, 9 assists and 6 steals and international guard Kathleen Macleod (167-86) scored 15 points and 5 assists (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line). Adelaide Lightning maintains third position with 6-2 record behind leader Sydney UF. Loser Dandenong Rangers keep the fifth place with four games lost. Adelaide Lightning will face Bulleen Boomers (#4) in Melbourne in the next round. Dandenong Rangers will play at home against the league's second-placed Townsville Fire.
