Very predictable result in Malmo where leader Malbas (3-0) smashed bottom-ranked Fryshuset (0-5) 87-52 on Saturday. The game without a history. Malbas led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They also forced 22 Fryshuset turnovers and outrebounded them 40-27 including 27 on the defensive glass. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Malbas made 8 blocks. It was a great evening for Australian guard John Fitzgerald (193-84, college: Lindsey Wilson) who led his team to a victory scoring 28 points and 6 rebounds. Guard Joakim Kallman (-89) helped adding 7 points and 7 assists. At the losing side guard Stefan Nguyen (189-92) responded with 19 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists and Walter Lindstrom (-95) scored 9 points. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the third consecutive win for Malbas. They maintain fourth place in South with 3-0 record. Fryshuset lost their fifth game in a row. They still closes the standings with five games lost. Malbas will face Hoganas (#5) at home in the next round. Fryshuset will play against Helsingborg (#8) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
