Regular Season Round 14: Obras - Quilmes MP 114-71

LigaA top team - Obras (11-3) had no problems winning another game on Sunday. This time they crushed eighth ranked Quilmes MP (2-12) in Buenos Aires 114-71. The game without a history. Obras led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They were well out of reach of Quilmes MP shooting 70.7 percent from the field. Obras forced 20 Quilmes MP turnovers and outrebounded them 34-14 including a 28-10 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Obras especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 57.9 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Quilmes MP's players. The best player for the winners was international guard Alexis Elsener (196-88) who scored 23 points (perfect from the field making all nine shots !!!). International power forward Juan Gutierrez (205-83) chipped in 9 points and 12 rebounds. Obras' coach Julio Cesar Lamas felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Naturalized American guard Phillip McHopson (188-87, college: Idaho) produced 22 points and American power forward Rolando Howell (206-82, college: S.Carolina) added 9 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the guests. Obras have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 11-3 record, which they share with Regatas C. Quilmes MP lost ninth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the eighth place with 12 games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
