Regular Season Round 7: Milano - Biassono 79-43

Bottom-ranked Biassono (0-7) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 79-43 loss to third ranked Milano (6-1) in Milano on Sunday evening. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. The game was mostly controlled by Milano. Biassono managed to win second period 16-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Biassono to just 7 points in fourth quarter. Milano dominated down low during the game scoring 44 of its points in the paint compared to Biassono's 24 and made 20-of-23 free shots (87.0 percent) during the game, while Biassono only scored four points from the stripe. Milano forced 27 Biassono turnovers and outrebounded them 44-22 including a 22-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a great evening for guard Silvia Gottardi (176-78) who led her team to a victory scoring 19 points and 7 rebounds (made all of her ten free throws !!!). Swedish center Jenny Lidgren (191-88) helped adding 12 points and 11 rebounds. Four Milano players scored in double figures. At the losing side guard Virginia Galbiati (173-92) responded with 10 points and forward Martina Reggiani (177-92) scored 7 points and 6 rebounds. Biassono's coach Valerio Signorini gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. The victory was the sixth consecutive win for Milano. They moved-up to second place in North, which they share with San Martino and Vigarano. Biassono lost their seventh game in a row. They still closes the standings with seven games lost. Milano will meet Alghero (#9) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Biassono will play against Virtus Cagliari (#11) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
