The most interesting game of round 7 was a home defeat of 4th placed Unicaja Malaga (5-2) by third ranked Real Madrid (6-1) who outscored them by 16 points 96-80. It was a key game for the top position in the league. The guests trailed by 3 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 11-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 96-80. It was a great evening for international guard Rudy Fernandez (197-85) who led his team to a victory scoring 18 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. American point guard Jaycee Carroll (188-83, agency: Priority Sports) helped adding 18 points. At the losing side British forward Joel Freeland (208-87) responded with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds and American swingman Tremmell Darden (194-81, college: Niagara) scored 17 points and 5 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Real Madrid have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with FCB Regal. Unicaja Malaga at the other side dropped to the third place with two games lost. They share the position with Caja Laboral and Lucentum. Real Madrid is looking forward to face bottom-ranked Lagun Aro GBC (#18) in San Sebastian in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Unicaja Malaga will play on the road against Meridiano Alicante (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
