There was a surprise result when eighth ranked Niigata Albirex (4-4) defeated on the road higher ranked Shimane Magic (6-4) 82-78 on Sunday. The guests trailed by 2 points at the halftime before their 28-17 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. Niigata Albirex outrebounded Shimane Magic 41-28 including a 17-2 advantage in offensive rebounds. They shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 75.0 percentage. The game was dominated by American players. The best player for the winners was guard Nile Murry (193-83, college: TCU) who scored 21 points and 7 rebounds. point guard Dwight Gordon (188-88, college: Biola, CA) chipped in 13 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Niigata Albirex players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Michael Parker (202-81, college: Evergreen St.) who recorded 21 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and center Jeral Davis (216-84) added 14 points, 5 rebounds and 6 blocks (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) respectively. Niigata Albirex moved-up to sixth place. Shimane Magic at the other side keeps the third position with four games lost. Niigata Albirex will face league's leader Akita Happinets at home in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Shimane Magic will play against Fukuoka Rizing and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
