Regular Season Round 5: Maccabi Haifa - Netanya 104-94

The game between closely ranked teams ended with bottom-ranked Elitzur Netanya's (0-4) road loss to tenth ranked Maccabi Haifa (2-3) 94-104 on Sunday. Maccabi Haifa outrebounded Elitzur Netanya 38-21 including a 17-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Maccabi Haifa made 7 blocks. Elitzur Netanya was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was naturalized American swingman Sylven Landesberg (198-90, college: Virginia) who scored 35 points (!!!) and 8 rebounds (was perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line !!!). American forward Carlos Powell (199-83, college: S.Carolina) chipped in 23 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Elitzur Netanya players scored in double figures. Maccabi Haifa moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Hapoel Holon. Loser Elitzur Netanya still closes the standings with four games lost. Maccabi Haifa will face Maccabi Ashdod (#9) on the road in the next round. Elitzur Netanya will play against Hapoel Holon and hopes to get finally their first victory.
