There was no surprise when 5th ranked Firenze (3-6) was defeated on the road by second ranked Trieste (6-3) 85-71 on Sunday. The game without a history. Trieste led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They made 29-of-33 free shots (87.9 percent) during the game. Trieste forced 23 Firenze turnovers and outrebounded them 34-19 including a 25-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. Firenze was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Forward Luca Gandini (205-85) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds for the winners and the former international Leonardo Zaccariello (190-82, agency: Players Group) chipped in 12 points and 6 rebounds. Four Trieste players scored in double figures. Trieste's coach Eugenio Dalmasson used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was the former international guard Stefano Rabaglietti (190-83) with 25 points and 6 steals (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) and forward Stefano Spizzichini (202-90) scored 18 points and 5 rebounds. Trieste keeps a position of league leader, which they share with 4 other teams. Newly promoted Firenze dropped to the fourth place with six games lost. Trieste will face Comsum.it SI (#4) in Siena in the next round. Firenze will play at home against Treviglio and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
