An interesting game for Loimaan Korikonkarit (8-2) which played road game in Helsinki against 3rd placed Torpan Pojat (7-4). First ranked Loimaan Korikonkarit managed to get a 8-point victory 98-90. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Torpan Pojat. The guests trailed by 6 points after three quarters before their 28-14 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Loimaan Korikonkarit shot 24 for 34 from the free-throw line, while Torpan Pojat only scored four points from the stripe. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Loimaan Korikonkarit made 8 blocks. 30 personal fouls committed by Torpan Pojat helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Martin Zeno (196-85, college: Texas Tech) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 36 points (!!!) and 12 rebounds. His fellow American import forward Ryan McDade (201-80, college: N.Arizona) contributed with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 14 rebounds for the winners. Forward Timo Heinonen (198-81) answered with a double-double by scoring 16 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists and American swingman Jonathan Heard (198-86) added 17 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Torpan Pojat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Loimaan Korikonkarit have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They maintain first place with 8-2 record. Torpan Pojat at the other side dropped to the fifth position with four games lost. Loimaan Korikonkarit are looking forward to face Tampereen Pyrinto (#4) at home in the next round. Torpan Pojat will have a break next round.
