There was a surprise result when sixth ranked Matera (3-6) beat at home second-best Recanati (5-4) 80-76 on Sunday. Recanati trailed by 11 points after 3 quarters before a 25-18 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 76-80 at the end of the game. Forward Luca Tardito (201-89, agency: Players Group) stepped up and scored 14 points and 9 rebounds for the winners and guard Gianni Cantagalli (196-88, agency: Players Group) chipped in 18 points and 5 rebounds. Four Matera players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was guard Marco Evangelisti (198-84) with 26 points and 6 rebounds (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) and naturalized Argentinian guard Federico Gilardi (190-79, agency: Players Group) scored 13 points.
