Regular Season Round 5: Hapoel J-M - Maccabi Ashdod 84-73

Date: November 13, 2011
No shocking result in a game in Jerusalem where sixth ranked Hapoel J-M (3-2) defeated 8th ranked Maccabi Ashdod (1-3) 84-73 on Sunday. The hosts trailed by 5 points at the halftime before their 45-29 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. The game was also dominated by American players. The best player for the winners was swingman Luke Jackson (201-81, college: Oregon, agency: Priority Sports) who scored 18 points. Forward Brian Randle (203-85) chipped in 8 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Hapoel J-M's coach Oded Katash used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Forward Alex Tyus (203-88, college: Florida) produced a double-double by scoring 16 points and 16 rebounds and guard Ramel Bradley (188-85) added 21 points respectively for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Hapoel J-M moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Galil Gilboa. Loser Maccabi Ashdod dropped to the ninth position with three games lost. Hapoel J-M will face league's leader Maccabi T-A in Tel-Aviv in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Maccabi Ashdod will play at home against Maccabi Haifa (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
