Regular Season Round 14: JX Sunflowers - Niigata 75-58

WJBL top team - JX Sunflowers (12-2) had no problems winning another game on Sunday. This time they beat seventh ranked Airlines R. (3-11) in Kashiwa 75-58. The game was mostly controlled by JX Sunflowers. Airlines R. managed to win third quarter 18-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. JX Sunflowers looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was power forward Lynn Kibayashi (184-89) who scored 16 points and 8 rebounds. International center Hiromi Suwa (183-85) chipped in 12 points and 9 rebounds. Four JX Sunflowers players scored in double figures. JX Sunflowers' coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. International forward Reika Takahashi (177-88) produced a double-double by scoring 14 points and 13 rebounds and swingman Sangi Kanade (169-86) added 21 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the guests. JX Sunflowers have an impressive eight-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 12-2 record, which they share with Toyota A. Airlines R. lost eighth consecutive game. They keep the seventh place with 11 games lost. JX Sunflowers will meet at home league's second-placed Toyota A. in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Airlines R. will play against Fujitsu RW (#4) in Kawasaki and hope to secure a win.
