There was a small surprise when twelfth ranked Elitzur Ramla (2-4) edged at home 9th ranked Hapoel Afula (2-4) 110-107 on Tuesday. Hapoel Afula was trailing by 3 points at halftime but managed to get 5-point lead after three quarters before a 28-23 charge of Elitzur Ramla, which allowed them to tie the game at the end of regular time. They were better in overtime eventually winning that period 17-14. Elitzur Ramla made 22-of-27 free shots (81.5 percent) during the game. Strangely Hapoel Afula outrebounded Elitzur Ramla 43-27 including 16 on the offensive glass. American forward Ryan Bacon (200-88, college: St.Peter's, agency: Strategic Sports) scored 25 points and 5 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and S.Moragne chipped in 20 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was American forward Gregg Thondique (201-87, college: Virginia Union) with a double-double by scoring 29 points and 19 rebounds and his fellow American import guard Ronny LeMelle (196-81, college: Auburn) scored 30 points and 8 rebounds. Five Elitzur Ramla and four Hapoel Afula players scored in double figures. Elitzur Ramla moved-up to ninth place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Hapoel Afula. Hapoel Afula lost fourth consecutive game. Elitzur Ramla will face higher ranked Lev Hasharon (#6) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game.
