There was a surprise result in Saskatoon, SK where ninth ranked Huskies (2-2) defeated 4th placed Pronghorn (3-2) 83-67 on Friday. The hosts trailed by 11 points after first quarter, but they stormed back and won the game by 16 points. Huskies dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Pronghorn's 36. Huskies forced 27 Pronghorn turnovers. International forward Michael Lieffers (203-87) stepped up and scored 18 points and 8 rebounds for the winners and guard Evan Ostertag (183) chipped in 16 points. Daryl Cooper responded with 25 points and 7 steals (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and forward Dominyc Coward (198) produced a double-double by scoring 10 points and 10 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Huskies moved-up to sixth place. Loser Pronghorn keeps the fourth position with two games lost. Huskies will face again higher ranked Pronghorn (#5) in Lethbridge, AB in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
