The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Thunderwolves as it allowed them to take a leadership position after previous leader's (Varsity Reds) loss. Thunderwolves defeated 3rd placed Blues in Thunder Bay, ON 68-63. The hosts were ahead by 11 points but lost the second period ending it with a 3-point deficit before their 18-10 run, which allowed them to win the game.
