Second Stage Round 1: Quilmes MP - Sionista 77-81

Everything went according to plan in Mar del Plata where fourth ranked Sionista (8-7) beat 8th ranked Quilmes MP (2-13) 81-77 on Friday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Quilmes MP won fourth quarter 22-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a great shooting night for Sionista especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 57.9 percentage. The former international forward Juan Manuel Locatelli (198-75) stepped up and scored 22 points (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) for the winners and the former international swingman Matias Sandes (201-84) chipped in 14 points and 5 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Four Sionista players scored in double figures. At the losing side naturalized American guard Phillip McHopson (188-87, college: Idaho) responded with 23 points and 6 assists and American forward Louis Truscott (201-78, college: Houston, agency: Hart Sports Mngm) produced a double-double by scoring 18 points and 12 rebounds. Sionista maintains fourth place with 8-7 record, which they share with Boca Jrs and Lanus. Quilmes MP lost their tenth game in a row. Newly promoted team keeps the eighth position with 13 games lost. Sionista will face Lanus (#4) in Buenos Aires in the next round. Quilmes MP will play at home against San Martin Corrientes (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
