Regular Season Round 10: La Palma - Granada 85-76
Date: November 18, 2011
There was no surprise when 9th ranked CB Granada (4-6) was defeated on the road by fourth ranked UB La Palma (7-3) 85-76. The hosts were tied after three quarters but managed to speed up in last quarter eventually winning the game. It was a great shooting night for UB La Palma especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.6 percentage. American forward Lucas Sikma (203-89, college: Portland) notched a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds to lead the effort and the other American import forward Antonio Pena (203-86, college: Villanova) supported him with 17 points and 5 rebounds. Even 14 points and 4 assists by the former international forward Francisco Sanchez (201-79) did not help to save the game for CB Granada. Swingman Roberto Guerra (195-83) added 13 points for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. UB La Palma moved-up to third place, which they share with Burgos. CB Granada at the other side keeps the ninth position with six games lost. They share it with 7 other teams. UB La Palma will play against Ford Burgos (#3) on the road in the next round, which may be the game of the day. CB Granada will play against the league's second-placed Lleida Basquet (#2) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
