Regular Season Round 13: Chiba Jets - Sendai 89ers 79-74

There was a minor upset when much higher ranked Sendai 89ers (8-4) lost on the road to fourth ranked Chiba Jets (7-5) 79-74 on Friday. Sendai 89ers were trailing by 1 point at halftime but managed to get 4-point lead after three quarters before a 29-20 charge of Chiba Jets, which allowed them to win the game. American players dominated the game. It was a very good performance for guard Maurice Hargrow (193-83, college: Minnesota) who helped to win the game recording 24 points and 9 rebounds. Guard Jamel Staten (198-83, college: Minn.St.-Mankato) contributed with 18 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Chiba Jets' coach Eric Gardow allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Forward Oneal Mims (208-83, college: Angelo St.) answered with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 14 rebounds and forward Johnny Dukes (203-84, college: San Bernardino CC) added 6 points, 12 rebounds and 7 assists in the effort for Sendai 89ers. Chiba Jets moved-up to third place. Sendai 89ers at the other side keep the second position with four games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
