Regular Season Round 9: Musel Pikes - T71 78-79

The most exciting game of round 9 in the Diekirch League took place in Stadrbredimus. This derby game ended with only one-point home defeat of 6th ranked Musel Pikes (4-5) to first ranked T71 (8-1) 79-78 on Saturday evening. Guest team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. Musel Pikes was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. The former international power forward Frank Muller (194-88, college: Cuesta JC) stepped up and scored 26 points and 6 rebounds for the winners and American swingman Denell Stephens (193-86, college: Slippery Rock, agency: Scorers 1st Sportmanagement) chipped in 8 points and 19 rebounds. The best for the losing side was American-British forward Philip Perre (198-79, college: N.Alabama) with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 12 rebounds and American power forward Brandon Gary (202-83, college: Hutchinson CC) scored 22 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 blocks. Four Musel Pikes players scored in double figures. Defending champion maintains first place with 8-1 record. Musel Pikes at the other side keeps the sixth position with five games lost. They share it with Soleuvre. T71 are looking forward to face BBC Nitia (#9) in Bettembourg in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Musel Pikes will play on the road against Amicale in Steinsel and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
