Regular Season Round 6: Olimpi - STU Tbilisi 101-85
Date: November 19, 2011
Another interesting game was again a derby between two teams from Tbilisi: Olympus (#4) and STU (#5). Olympus (4-1) smashed visiting STU (3-2) by 16 points 101-85. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of STU. The game was mostly controlled by Olympus. STU was better in third quarter 29-25. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded STU 50-37 including a 39-28 advantage in defensive rebounds. Olympus players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. STU was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. Croatian guard Nikica Sljuka (187-87) notched 25 points and 7 rebounds to lead the effort and the former international forward Mikheil Berishvili (205-87) supported him with 18 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. Five Olympus players scored in double figures. Even 30 points and 6 rebounds by forward Vasili Beruashvili (198-90) did not help to save the game for STU. Forward Tato Chachibaia (201-90) added 17 points and 6 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Olympus moved-up to third place. STU at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the fifth position with two games lost. Olympus will play against bottom-ranked Energy Invest (#11) in Rustavi in the next round and are hoping to win another game. STU's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Tbilisi Armia.
