There was a minor upset when one of their biggest challengers Varsity Reds (2-2) were outscored by fifth ranked Axemen (2-1) in Wolfville, NS 80-54 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Axemen. Varsity Reds was better in second period 27-22. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Varsity Reds to just 4 points in first quarter. Axemen forced 27 Varsity Reds turnovers. It was a good game for international forward Owen Klassen (208-91) who led his team to a victory with 18 points and 6 rebounds. Guard Tyler Scott (188) contributed with 14 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Guard Daniel Quirion (183) replied with 17 points and Michael Fosu added 8 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Varsity Reds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Axemen moved-up to third place. Loser Varsity Reds dropped to the second position with two games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
