The game between closely ranked teams ended with 5th ranked Blues' (1-3) road loss to fourth ranked Gryphons (3-1) in Guelph, ON 71-89 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Gryphons. Blues was better in fourth quarter 27-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 16-of-20 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. Gryphons outrebounded Blues 39-23 including 25 on the defensive glass. It was a good game for guard Daniel McCarthy (188) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 22 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists. Guard Zachary Angus (186) contributed with 20 points for the winners. Four Gryphons players scored in double figures. Bosnian forward Drazen Glisic (198) replied with 16 points and 6 rebounds and Arun Kumar (183) added 13 points in the effort for Blues. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Gryphons moved-up to third place, which they share with 3 other teams. Blues lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the third position with three games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
