Regular Season Round 7: Aishin SH - Toyota Alvark 58-86

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Aishin Sea Horses (11-3) in Kariya on Saturday night. Hosts were rolled over by Toyota Alvark (11-3) 86-58. It was a key game for the top position in the league as both teams had the same 10-3 record before this meeting. The game without a history. Toyota Alvark led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Aishin Sea Horses' 26. It was a great evening for forward Takayuki Kumagai (190-85) who led his team to a victory scoring 12 points and 7 rebounds. International power forward Kosuke Takeuchi (206-85) helped adding 18 points (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field). Four Toyota Alvark players scored in double figures. At the losing side the former international power forward J.R. Sakuragi (206-76, college: UCLA) responded with 13 points and 8 rebounds and Jamaican center Kevin Young (206-84, college: Missouri) scored 7 points and 6 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Toyota Alvark have an impressive series of eleven victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Aishin SH. Toyota Alvark is looking forward to face Panasonic Trians (#4) in Osaka in the next round. Aishin Sea Horses will play on the road against Toshiba Thunders in Kanagawa and are hoping to win this game.
