No shocking result in a game when fifth ranked Hamamatsu Phoenix (6-5) beat on the road 10th ranked Iwate Big Bulls (1-10) 83-74 on Saturday. Iwate Big Bulls trailed by 12 points at halftime and as many as 18 after three quarters before a 24-15 last quarter charge cut the deficit to 74-83 at the end of the game. Hamamatsu Phoenix looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. It was a very good performance for American guard Jermaine Dixon (191-87, college: Pittsburgh, agency: VVG Sports) who helped to win the game recording 18 points and 9 assists. His fellow American import forward Jeffrey Parmer (203-85, college: Florida Atlantic, agency: Dynamics Global Management) contributed with 17 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Hamamatsu Phoenix's coach Ryuji Kawai allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American power forward LaShawn Malloy (209-84, college: New Orleans) answered with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 15 rebounds and guard Makoto Sawaguchi (184-91) added 14 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Iwate Big Bulls. Four Iwate Big Bulls players scored in double figures. Defending champion moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Kyoto Hannar. and Shimane SM. Iwate Big Bulls lost their fifth game in a row.
