Regular Season Round 9: Heffingen - Residence 85-83

Heffingen has finally registered their first victory this season after eight consecutive loses. They used home court advantage to defeat Residence (3-6) 85-83 on Saturday. Residence was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Heffingen made 18-of-20 free shots (90.0 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was Billy McNutt who had a double-double by scoring 23 points and 16 rebounds. Swingman Tim Schmit (192-95) chipped in 20 points (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line). At the other side the best for losing team was U.S. Virgin Isl. Forward Jerome Gumbs (194-82, college: USF) who recorded 29 points and 5 rebounds and American forward Marcus Kennedy (193-84, college: Montevallo, agency: Interperformances) added 17 points and 14 rebounds respectively. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Heffingen (1-8) left bottom position moving up to ninth place, which they share with BBC Nitia. Loser Residence dropped to the eighth position with six games lost. Heffingen will meet at home higher ranked Etzella (#4) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Residence will play against Basket Esch (#3) and hope to secure a win.
