Regular Season Round 9: Le Puy - Sorgues 74-80

Very expected game when 13th ranked Le Puy ASMB (3-6) lost to sixth ranked Sorgues (7-2) in Le Puy en Velay 74-80. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Le Puy ASMB won third quarter 24-15. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Sorgues shot 61.7 percent from the field. Strangely Le Puy ASMB outrebounded Sorgues 34-22 including a 16-1 advantage in offensive rebounds. 25 personal fouls committed by Le Puy ASMB helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was forward Desmond Quincy-Jones (201-85, college: Pace) who scored 19 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Sorgues have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with 5 other teams. Le Puy ASMB at the other side keeps the thirteenth place with six games lost. Sorgues' next round opponent will be Rueil (#17) which should be an easy win for them. Le Puy ASMB will play against Chartres (#12) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
