Regular Season Round 9: Wisla AWF Kr. - Novum Lublin 60-74

There was a minor upset when 7th ranked Wisla AWF Kr. (4-4) lost to ninth ranked Novum Lublin (4-4) in Krakow 60-74 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Novum Lublin. Wisla AWF Kr. was better in second period 12-11. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Novum Lublin forced 19 Wisla AWF Kr. turnovers and outrebounded them 43-29 including a 33-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Novum Lublin made 10 blocks. It was a good game for center Mateusz Wisniewski (204-91) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 14 rebounds. Swingman Jakub Karolak (192-93) contributed with 23 points for the winners. The former international swingman Grzegorz Radwan (200-80) answered with 24 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists and forward Przemyslaw Urbanek (197-89) added 11 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Wisla AWF Kr.Wisla AWF Kr.'s coach Dawid Mazur rotated ten players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Novum Lublin moved-up to seventh place in Group C, which they share with Wisla AWF Kr. and Tur Bielsk Pdl. Novum Lublin will face higher ranked Unia Tarnow (#4) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
