Regular Season Round 9: Charleville - Lattes Montp. 64-71

There was no surprise when 10th ranked Charleville-Mezieres (3-6) was defeated at home by leader Lattes Montpellier (9-0) 71-64. The guests were already 16 points ahead at halftime and as many as 23 after three quarters before a 24-8 last quarter charge of Charleville-Mezieres cut the lead to 71-64 at the end of the game. The former international point guard Edwige Lawson-Wade (166-79) nailed 19 points and 4 assists for the winning side and guard Gaelle Skrela (177-83, agency: Josep and Nicolas) accounted for 14 points and 6 rebounds. Four Lattes Montpellier players scored in double figures. Lattes Montpellier's coach Valery Demory allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Greek forward Zoi Dimitrakou (188-87, agency: Josep and Nicolas) came up with 12 points and 4 assists and guard Amel Bouderra (160-89) added 13 points and 4 assists respectively for Charleville-Mezieres in the defeat. The victory was the ninth consecutive win for Lattes Montpellier. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Challes. Charleville-Mezieres at the other side dropped to the ninth place with six games lost. Lattes Montpellier's next round opponent will be league's leader Challes-les-Eaux on the road and it will be for sure the game of the week. Charleville-Mezieres will play against Union Hainaut (#8) in Saint-Amand and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
