Regular Season Round 9: Basket Esch - BBC Nitia 77-70

Very expected game when 9th ranked BBC Nitia (1-8) was defeated on the road by fourth ranked Basket Esch (6-3) 77-70. BBC Nitia was ahead by 11 points at the halftime before a 49-31 second half run of Basket Esch. Basket Esch shot 22 for 30 from the free-throw line, while BBC Nitia only scored six points from the stripe. 24 personal fouls committed by BBC Nitia helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a good game for Slovakian power forward Stefan Svitek (203-77) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 12 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Basket Esch moved-up to third place, which they share with Etzella. BBC Nitia lost sixth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the ninth position with eight games lost. Basket Esch's next round opponent will be Residence (#8) in Bereldange which should be theoretically an easy game. BBC Nitia will play on the road against the league's leader T71 in Dudelange.
