Regular Season Round 9: Mondeville - Lyon 56-67

Date: November 20, 2011
We should mention about the upset which took place in Mondeville, where higher ranked Mondeville (5-4) lost at home to thirteenth ranked Lyon (2-7) 56-67 on Sunday. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Mondeville. Turkish power forward Leigh Aziz (186-79, college: Syracuse) stepped up and scored 14 points and 8 rebounds for the winners and the former international swingman Audrey Sauret Gillespie (179-76) chipped in 13 points, 5 assists and 4 steals. The best for the losing side was power forward Laetitia Kamba (186-87) with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 11 rebounds and Mali center Naignouma Coulibaly (191-89) scored 11 points and 9 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Mondeville's coach Herve Coudray rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Lyon moved-up to twelfth place, which they share with Aix-en-Provence. Loser Mondeville keeps the fifth position with four games lost. They share it with Tarbes and Arras. Lyon will meet at home higher ranked Basket Landes (#3) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Mondeville will play against Bourges where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
