Priolo has finally registered their first victory this season after five consecutive loses. The win is especially important as they defeated much higher ranked Pall.Pozzuoli (3-3) 82-66 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Priolo. Pall.Pozzuoli managed to win third quarter 16-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 20-of-22 free shots (90.9 percent) during the game. Priolo outrebounded Pall.Pozzuoli 37-22 including a 29-13 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was Serbian swingman Tanja Cirov (181-81) who scored 19 points and 9 rebounds. American power forward Michelle Maslowski (188-79, college: Drexel) chipped in 22 points. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Kelly Mazzante (183-82, college: Penn St.) who recorded 14 points and Belgian power forward Evelien Callens (188-84) added 11 points and 6 rebounds respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Priolo (1-5) left bottom position moving up to ninth place, which they share with Bracco Geas and Cagliari CUS. Loser Pall.Pozzuoli dropped to the seventh position with three games lost. They share it with Basket Parma. Priolo will meet at home bottom-ranked Alcamo (#12) in the next round. Pall.Pozzuoli will play against the league's leader Taranto (#1) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
