Regular Season Round 7: Adelaide - Bulleen B. 87-77

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Adelaide. Third ranked Adelaide Lightning faced their biggest opponent Bulleen Boomers. Host Adelaide Lightning (7-2) defeated guests from Melbourne (6-2) 87-77. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Bulleen Boomers. It was a key game for the second position in the league. It looked good early as Bulleen Boomers took an 17-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Adelaide Lightning took control and eventually winning the game that evening by 10 points. They made 22-of-26 charity shots (84.6 percent) during the game. Bulleen Boomers were plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international center Suzy Batkovic-Brown (193-80) who helped to win the game recording 37 points (!!!), 8 rebounds and 4 assists. New Zealand-Italian guard Angela Marino (166-86) contributed with 15 points and 5 assists for the winners. International center Liz Cambage (203-91) answered with a double-double by scoring 28 points and 10 rebounds (on 12-of-14 shooting from the field) and international guard Samantha Richards (167-83) added 19 points in the effort for Bulleen Boomers. Adelaide Lightning moved-up to second place. Defending champion Bulleen Boomers dropped to the third position with two games lost. Adelaide Lightning will play against league's leader Sydney Uni Flames on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Bulleen Boomers will have a break next round.
