Very predictable result when second ranked Real Madrid (7-1) beat at home 15th ranked Lagun Aro GBC (2-6) 82-74 on Sunday. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 25-12. But Lagun Aro GBC won second period 27-24. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Real Madrid dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Lagun Aro GBC's 36 and made 17-of-20 free shots (85.0 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was international guard Rudy Fernandez (197-85) who scored 13 points, 6 assists and 4 steals (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!). Naturalized Montenegrin power forward Nikola Mirotic (209-91) chipped in 12 points and 7 rebounds. American forward Andy Panko (204-77, college: Lebanon Valley) produced 19 points and 6 rebounds and American-Nigerian center Kenny Adeleke (205-83, college: Hartford) added 12 points and 8 rebounds respectively for the guests. Four Lagun Aro GBC players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Real Madrid have an impressive six-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with FCB Regal. Loser Lagun Aro GBC dropped to the fourteenth place with six games lost. Real Madrid will face CAI Zaragoza (#8) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Lagun Aro GBC will play against Meridiano Alicante (#7).
