There was a small surprise when fifth ranked Tampereen Pyrinto (8-4) beat at home 5th ranked Torpan Pojat (7-6) 88-76 on Tuesday. The hosts were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Tampereen Pyrinto dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Torpan Pojat's 36. They outrebounded Torpan Pojat 42-26 including 30 on the defensive glass. The game was also dominated by American players. The best player for the winners was forward Damon Williams (201-73, college: Colorado St.-Pueblo) who scored 24 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. Forward Antwine Williams (192-75, college: N.Colorado, agency: Prossin Sports Management) chipped in a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds. Four Tampereen Pyrinto players scored in double figures. Tampereen Pyrinto's coach Pieti Poikola used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was guard Chase Griffin (188-83, college: Pepperdine) who recorded 30 points and swingman Jonathan Heard (198-86) added 14 points and 7 rebounds respectively. Defending champion moved-up to fourth place. Torpan Pojat lost third consecutive game. They keep the fifth position with six games lost. Tampereen Pyrinto will have a break next round. Torpan Pojat will play at home against the league's second-placed Kauhajoen Karhu (#2) in Kauhajoki.
