Regular Season Round 9: TTU - Tln Kalev 93-79

The most exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Tallinn: TTU/Kalev (#6) and Tln Kalev (#5). TTU/Kalev (4-5) won against visiting Tln Kalev (3-5) 93-79. The game was mostly controlled by TTU/Kalev. Tln Kalev managed to win third quarter 25-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 24-of-28 free shots (85.7 percent) during the game. TTU/Kalev outrebounded Tln Kalev 55-31 including a 43-24 advantage in defensive rebounds. 26 personal fouls committed by Tln Kalev helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was forward Illimar Pilk (195-88) who scored 22 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists. American center Andrew Arnold (208-86, college: Lewis-Clark) chipped in a double-double by scoring 16 points and 15 rebounds (went 10 for 10 at the free throw line !!!). Four TTU/Kalev players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Brandis Raley-Ross (188-87, college: S.Carolina) who recorded 25 points and 6 rebounds and the other American import forward Matt Shaw (203-88, college: UNLV) added 28 points respectively. TTU/Kalev moved-up to fifth place. Tln Kalev at the other side dropped to the sixth position with five games lost. TTU/Kalev will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Tln Kalev will play on the road against the league's leader Tartu Ulikool (#1) and is hoping to win this game.
