Very important is a home loss of third ranked Melbourne Tigers (6-4) against sixth ranked Kings (4-6) on Friday night. Host Melbourne Tigers were defeated by Kings in a tough game in Melbourne 80-89. Melbourne Tigers were ahead by 3 points at the halftime before a 46-34 second half run of Kings. They dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Melbourne Tigers' 38 and made 19-of-24 charity shots (79.2 percent) during the game. Swingman Ben Madgen (193-85, college: Augusta St.) orchestrated the victory by scoring 26 points and 4 assists. The former international center Julian Khazzouh (209-86) contributed with 22 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. International power forward Cameron Tragardh (209-83, college: ORU) replied with 28 points and 5 rebounds and American guard Ayinde Ubaka (193-85, college: California) added 17 points in the effort for Melbourne Tigers. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Kings maintains sixth position with 4-6 record. Melbourne Tigers at the other side keep the third place with four games lost. Kings will play against higher ranked Cairns Taipans (#5) at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Melbourne Tigers will play against the league's second-placed New Zealand Breakers in Auckland and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
