Very expected game in Kanagawa where 8th ranked Toshiba Thunders (2-14) were defeated by first ranked Aishin Sea Horses (13-3) 88-71 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by Aishin Sea Horses. Toshiba Thunders was better in fourth quarter 24-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Aishin Sea Horses shot 61.8 percent from the field. The best player for the winners was the former international power forward J.R. Sakuragi (206-76, college: UCLA) who had a double-double by scoring 16 points, 12 rebounds and 7 assists (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). The former international point guard Shinsuke Kashiwagi (183-81) chipped in 19 points. Five Aishin Sea Horses players scored in double figures. American forward Chris Moss (204-80, college: W.Virginia) produced 13 points and 7 rebounds and guard Yuta Miyanga (183-81) added 14 points respectively for the hosts. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Aishin Sea Horses have a solid three-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 13-3 record. Loser Toshiba Thunders stay at the bottom place with 14 games lost. Aishin Sea Horses will face Hokkaido L. (#6) in Saporro in the next round where they are favorite. Toshiba Thunders will play on the road against Hitachi Sunrockers in Osaka.
